More Blue and Green for a Better Planet

Every day, on average, each Canadian produces 2.2 kg of waste. In a year, that’s about 800 kg, or about the same amount of weight as a moose.

In one year, all the people who live in Halton Region—which includes Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville—produce over 200 million kilograms (or 200,000 tonnes) of waste—that’s heavier than a space shuttle!

Most people put their waste at the end of the driveway, but have no idea where it goes or what happens to it.

This video explains Halton Region’s various waste management programs—landfill, Blue Box, GreenCart, yard waste, household hazardous waste and reuse.
