All areas of sustainability - recycling, composting, water quality and conservation, energy conservation, green building, air quality. I love to develop programs to get the public - adults and children interested in and involved with these topics. Public awareness campaigns, special events, school programs, volunteer training - I am interested in it all. I love gardening and landscaping.
About Me:
Wonderful family - husband and three kids. Love to do things outdoors - hike, ride bikes, canoe, ski. Love to read and garden. Live in Texas, but born and raised in the north and seriously wish to return to parts further north or the northwest where I went to college and lived for several years.
Work for the City of Plano - great job and great team to work with. I'm Manager of Environmental Education and Community Outreach for the Sustainability & Environmental Services Department. Technical Division Director of CEM.

page 2....sorry i hit comment before i meant to...
We do programs throughout the year such as, Bring One for the Chipper christmas tree recycling, Arbor Day tree plantings, Great American Clean Up litter cleanups and educational programs, Earth Day educational programs, Waste Tire Round Ups, Rivers Alive waterway and watershed clean ups, America Recycles Day, Environmental programs at civic, church, school and community outings, local fair events/booths, and school and county office recycling programs. This program was just scrapped and we are in the process of starting it up again. I know this answer is kind of vague, so let me know exactly what you'd like more info on, or we can chat by phone if that will be easier. Will you be going to WasteCon? if so, maybe we can meet and discuss there.

hi heather...Effingham County is only around 55,000 and emcompasses around 482 square miles. that includes three small incorporated areas and the unincorporated area. I actually work for the Board of Commissioners in the unincorporated area. However, none of the cities have a sanitation or education person, so i assist them as needed with sanitation services, and Keep Effingham Beautiful (which is also ran out of my office) helps with the cities with all education needs. You know how it is with smaller jurisdictions...we seem to end up wearing many hats.
Hi Heather, welcome to the site! Don't forget to join the CEM E-Conference group and participate in the networking opportunity by commenting in a discussion or starting your own.
