- I am the Sanitation Director and Keep Effingham Beautiful Executive Director for Effingham County, Georgia; a rural county about 20 miles from Savannah. Effingham County is experiencing explosive growth making it one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, which has contributed to many solid waste disposal issues.

- I'm the Solid Waste Manager for the City of Largo, Florida. We have frontloader, rolloff, rearloader, automated sideloader, claw truck and curb-side recycling for 77,000 residents.

- Connie - it has been scary warm here, no winter until a couple of days ago when we got a spring storm. So 1-2' snow on the ground today but 50 degress & gorgeous sunny skies - go figure. Work is great - busy & I won't complain. Am heading to Vancouver, BC next week to attend the NW SWANA Regional Conference - should be great. Thanks for checking in - hope to see you soon, Laurie

- Hi Connie, Yes we are a very unique public authority and we compete ruthlessly against the private sector. I have no love for them. We provide better service, better pricing, accountability and fairness. We are the only public sector in Pa agressively competeing against the large privates. - Hi Connie, I am the Executive Director for the Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority, a three county SW System in north central Pa. We operate two landfills (one municipal, one C/D); two transfer stations; municipal, commerical and industrial waste collection; recycling collection, processing and marketing (a three thousand square; SW educational programs; tire processing; wood grinding/composting; electricial power generation from our landfill gas: and using waste heat from the power generation to operate 14,000 sq ft commerical greenhouse growing green produce for the retail and wholesale food markets.

I am a Recycling Specialist for Waukesha County, Wisconsin. I do a lot of education & outreach, business waste assessments, tours of our recycling facility, and more. Also on the board of directors of our state recycling organization (AROW) and an active member of the Organics & Composting Workgroup. My son & his wife are headed to Savannah in August as part of their vacation destination--I'll tell them to check out Effingham County! :)
